New Years State of Mind
Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, brace yourselves for 2016: A year that will see the first man on mars, a new president, iPhone batteries that last a full day, and 40 more Chic-fil-as in NYC.
Why all this optimism? It’s because we're starting next year off on the right foot with a 4-hour open bar at Lovecraft, an East Village staple. The bi-level venue caters to all tastes with live bands playing in a music hall, a club level with DJ, and an intimate cocktail bar. Despite the abundance of wiggle room, we are packing it to the rafters with good people and a lot of fun.

DJ all night in club-level

Band 1: John Splithoff Band
John has shared the stage with the likes of CeeLo Green, Jon Secada, Patti Austin, Gloria Estefan, and Ben Folds, earning accolades in genres ranging from jazz to classical and pop along the way. John self released his debut EP “The Move” in late 2013. John spends his time writing, recording and touring.
Band 2: Dancelujah feat Simile & Mariano Xavier Just as the name implies, Dancelujah will make you dance.
The group combines the musical talents of rapper/singer Simile (also singer for the Downbeat Keys) with the musical talents of keyboardist extraordinaire Mariano Xavier (previously of M. Xavier Experience) and other musicians. Mariano splits his time between NYC and Boston playing frequent shows and collaborating with various artists. Simile most recently opened for the rapper Future at South by Southwest in Austin, TX.
Just Added - Band 3: Mike Hubbard
Fresh out of college, Mike Hubbard released his first album in 2012 featuring all original works, including the crowd favorite, "Ozymandias." After a move to New York City, Mike has been taking Manhattan by storm - quickly becoming a highly sought after live act with headlining shows at venues like Rockwood Music Hall, the Mercury Lounge, Pianos, and the late Glasslands (#RIP) under his belt. His five piece band energizes rooms with a charisma and passion so often missing from live Indie/Pop acts, and has made him one of the premier, up and coming singer-songwriters in the five boroughs.
Hubbard's songs expertly navigate that elusive path of catchy melodies and choruses without sacrificing his thought-provoking and insightful lyrics, reminiscent of more veteran singer-songwriters. In the last year, Mike completed and released a Kickstarter-funded record titled "Still in the Wilderness," a collaboration with highly touted Brooklyn based producer, Jason Finkel (Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, BB King).
Classically trained on the piano since the age of five, Kyle has an ear for what lies behind the music. His savvy sets him apart from other DJs, and he thrives on individuality. Bornand raised with the soul, rock, and blues of Memphis, Kyle’s taste took shape from family and hometown inspirations, balancing jazz records and a love for Rachmaninoff with the driving sounds of southern rap.
After buying his first set of turntables at 19, Kyle began channeling these influences as a DJ. He opened for Three 6 Mafia in Memphis and soon became a sought after DJ for college parties and an eclectically upscale local lounge. After a year and a half of playing in New York City, Kyle holds a weekend residency at Paul’s Baby Grand in TriBeCa. He has also performed at the CFDA Fashion Party and Tom Ford instore at Bergdorf Goodman.
What drives him in each situation is his awareness of the audience, an ability to return their energy and relate intimately to the shape of their evening. Kyle is set apart by his extensive knowledge of music and by his ability to curate an addictive night from start to finish.
